If he's serious about baseball, for any type of glove, go with Rawlings, and Heart of the Hide series of gloves. Infielders glove can be between 11 1/4 inch and 11 3/4 inches. Outfielders look for 13 inches. Most first base gloves and catcher gloves are usually quite similar, not much difference. I'm 14 and I play for a junior olympic team out of connecticut, and we have 100 game seasons from spring through late fall. My Heart of the Hide catchers glove has lasted me a 140 games and hasn't let me down once. Broke in perfect, feels perfect, it's a perfect glove. However the price tag is about $200 - $250, but don't be fooled, every penny is worth it. Go straight to their website.
