How to fix peeling clear coat?
I have a black 2001 coupe with peeling clear coat on the hood trunk and top... they arent very big sections... abouyt the size of a baseball... and i was wondering if a black vinyl decal that covered the entire area would look very good? similar to a car wrap?
That is the generic answer that you must repaint. But the paint is still ok and ide use a vinyl sticker to cover entire section. and if its glossy and jet black how could u tell. the clear turns white as it breaks down so i think it might look better then the white patches?
im afraid u guys were WRONG... youtube it... some pple do this like car wraps and it looks gorgeous... u can wrap a car in vinyl and it disapears and covers well.. i tried it and love it.
You may think "repaint" is a generic answer, but you asked, "How to fix peeling clear coat?" Then you say "But the paint is still ok." If the paint is still ok, why is it peeling?
If you want to put vinyl siding on your car, have at it!
It will look like a band-aid, just as the other guy said.
