What is happening with the St. Louis Cardinals this offseason?
They trade Jimmy (I know hes not in his prime) but for some nobody? Get rid of Eckstein, on bad terms with Rolen, let Tagooch and Miles go, and they aren't picking anyone up, whats the deal?
Someone needs to wake Mr. Mozeliak up because he has not done a single thing to improve his team coming off two mediocre years. Yes, I do consider 2006 a mediocre year for them since they stumbled into the playoffs and were not a good team, regardless of their good fortune in October.
Their pitching staff is absolutely horrendous right now. I do not know what the deal with Carpenter is, but according to the depth chart they would have names like Thompson and Looper in the rotation. That will not get it done in the NL Central. A fourth place finish would definitely not be out of the question if they do not make some drastic changes.
