The story of the Statue of Liberty
Dedicated on October 28, 1886, the Statue of Liberty is one of the most important monuments of the United States. Standing on the edge of New York Harbor, the statue remains one of the most visited tourist attractions in the country - but not many people really know what the statue represents.
While the primary key in the name, must be that there is a story behind the appearance of the statue - and why, more interesting, is known for some as the Statue of Liberty - so I drove into the building from Mrs. 305ft high, when it was built and by whom?
The Statue of Freedom is actually a commemoration of an important event, as well as a symbol of freedom in a general sense. It was given to the United States of America by the nation of France in commemoration of the centenary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and also aims to represent the beaten friendship between France and the U.S. during the American Revolution. The statue represents freedom, then, is not only the concept of freedom in general, but also freedom American who won during the revolution and that is so proudly remembered by many Americans today.
The interesting thing about the Statue of Liberty is his story about the construction and transport from France to the United States. It was completed in France in 1885 after being designed by Gustave Eiffel, the designer behind a similar tower famous in France, before being torn down to be sent to the United States. Was reduced to 350 pieces that were packed in 214 boxes, all which were sent by sea to the United States - only to discover that the pedestal on which re-erected was not over yet. The pieces were convicted to spend the next 11 months hiding in the warehouse to the pedestal was completed. The statue then took four months to mount until finally, in 1886, was completed.
Over the next ten years, the U.S. donated about U.S. $ 10,000,000 (in today's terms) to charities in France, was not bad thanks for the European Community country, and enjoyed his statue - which functions as a lighthouse until 1902.
Over 120 years later, the Statue of Liberty still stands and is one of the most popular tourist attractions of people who stay in hotels New York - and is considered well worth a visit for locals and tourists alike.
